My Summer Reading Adventure with #20BooksofSummer2025 challenge!

My Summer Reading Adventure with #20BooksofSummer2025 challenge!

Okay, fellow bookworms, I have a confession to make. I’m a bit of a wallflower when it comes to reading challenges. My only consistent commitment is my Goodreads Reading Goal (because, let’s be real, who doesn’t love watching that number climb?). But recently, something truly wonderful crossed my radar, and it has me buzzing with bookish excitement: the #20BooksofSummer2025 challenge!

This challenge instantly caught my eye, hosted by the brilliant Anabel of Anabookbel and Emma from Words And Peace. Why? Well, for starters, I am, unapologetically, a massive book nerd. And the flexibility of this challenge is genuinely appealing. You can choose your reading goal: a breezy 10, a respectable 15, or a full-on bibliophile’s dream of 20 books for the summer. I’m choosing 10.

So, how does this fantastic challenge work, according to our generous hosts?

— The #20BooksofSummer2025 challenge kicks off on Sunday, June 1st, and runs to Sunday, August 31st. There is plenty of time to get those pages turning!

— The first (and best) rule? There are no real rules! Beyond signing up for your chosen number of books (10, 15, or 20) and making a valiant effort to read from your ever-growing TBR pile, it’s all about enjoying the ride.

— You can be a planner and pick your list in advance, or, if you’re more of a spontaneous reader, you can nominate an entire bookcase to read from or pick books at whim from your TBR.

— Even if you do pick a list, don’t fret! You can change it at any time – swap books in and out as your mood (or library holds) dictates.

— Perhaps the most important rule: Don’t panic about not reaching your target. This challenge is about the joy of reading, not the pressure of a deadline.

— Ultimately, it’s about enjoying a summer filled with great stories and, if you’re lucky, making a little bit of space on those overflowing shelves!

Anabel and Emma have made it super easy to join in the fun with Mr. Linky sign-ups on their blogs. Plus, monthly link-ups to share our progress, gush about our favorite reads and get some fantastic recommendations. And if that wasn’t enough, Emma has even designed some snazzy logos for us to use on our blogs and a neat bingo card to add an extra layer of fun to our reading journey! I highly encourage you to pop over to their sites for all the delightful details.

Now, because I’m already in planning mode, I couldn’t resist putting together a tentative summer reading list. This is subject to change, of course (remember that “no real rules” bit?), but it’s where my literary heart is leading me right now.

My 10 Tentative #20BooksofSummer2025 Reading List (in no particular order):

  1. A Man Called Ove: A Novel Kindle Edition by Fredrik Backman.
  2. A Summer Escape and Strawberry Cake at the Cosy Kettle: A feel good, laugh out loud romantic comedy (The Cosy Kettle series) Kindle Edition by Liz Eeles.
  3. The Bookshop by the Bay: A Novel Kindle Edition by Pamela M. Kelley
  4. Signal Moon: A Short Story Kindle Edition by Kate Quinn.
  5. The Guest House by the Sea: A heartwarming Irish novel to curl up with by Faith Hogan.
  6. The Happy Life of Isadora Bentley: A Novel Kindle Edition by Courtney Walsh.
  7. There I Find Rest (Strawberry Sands Beach Romance Book 1) Kindle Edition by Jessie Gussman.
  8. Good as Gold(The Salt Sisters Book 4) by Katie Winters
  9. The Enchanted Barn by Grace Livingston Hill
  10. Key West Promises (A Seaside Palms Novel) by Annie Cabot

I am so excited about this challenge! It feels like the perfect way to immerse myself in reading this summer, discover new favorites, and connect with other book lovers.

So, what about you? Are you interested in joining the #20BooksofSummer2025 challenge? Have you participated in other reading challenges before? Let me know in the comments below! And if you’re already in, what’s on your tentative summer reading list? Let’s make this a summer of incredible reads!

  1. I love watching my Goodreads Reading Goal climb too. 🙂 The #20BooksofSummer2025 sounds like a nice flexible challenge. It’s been awhile since I’ve done a challenge like that. I haven’t created a solid summer reading list but I love the idea. I basically just choose what becomes available next from my holds list or from my evergrowing Kindle sample list. 🙂

  2. A Man Called Ove was really good. I have the Isadora Bentley book in my Kindle app but haven’t gotten to it yet. This sounds like a fun challenge. I do participate in a couple of year-long TBR challenges as well as a historical fiction challenge. I’ll have to think about this one.

  3. A Man Called Ove is very good, and I just don’t say it because I am Swedish. Backman is a very funny person, and in this story he manages to catch a grumpy, old man at its best.
I am not familiar with your other books, but am sure they are well tuned for a summer read.
