Scrapbooking Scoop, ep. 2

Scrapbooking Scoop, ep. 2

It’s been over two years now since Paula, the owner and inventor 🙂 of Between the Bookends, invited me to be a monthly contributor, writing about ideas and inspiration about extra special books: personalized DIY books and scrapbooks.

I have usually written about personalized DIY books in general, including easy (high-quality!) templates, because people are typically short on time and want something done beautifully but quickly. I totally get it!

At the same time, some people prefer digital scrapbooking for flexible pages and full creativity. I’m in that camp. Even though it takes longer, I LOVE IT. Because, you know what?

Some days I just need a minute.

I need a minute to regroup and decompress and get creative and spend time in reflection. Creating pages with my Artisan program is SUCH a FUN way for me to do that!

So, whatever sounds just perfect for you, it probably is. 🥰

Either way, everything I share here gets printed at FOREVER Print, so no worries about quality, materials, and how long you’ll have access to the digital versions of your printed projects (just in case!).

Now that you know the basics, let’s move on to the Scoop!

Today’s Scrapbooking Tip

This is a tip that you can use however you like to scrapbook or preserve photos in pages, whether it’s paper scrapbooking, digital books, or just putting printed photos in an archival-safe book from Michael’s or Hobby Lobby.

If you’ve ever thought this:

…here are a few tips that can help:

This was never a 19th century problem. Back then, you were lucky if you had 10 pictures of your loved ones or yourself. Now we take 10 pictures of flowers we saw on our walk. So, if you’re overwhelmed with the amount of photos you have, you’re in good company–but it’s overcome-able! 🙂

First, get picky. And then preserve the photos that mean the most!

NOTE: For a safe place to keep digital photos and videos that’s private and doesn’t operate under the “monthly-fees-until-you-die” system, this is what I use and love.

Today’s Video Tutorial

I make short video tutorials about fun things you can do with the digital scrapbooking program I met and fell in love with in 2021, Artisan.

This 5-minute video shows you a fun thing you can do on a page: layering! I love that I can get the same layered look when I design digitally as I did back when I was scrapbooking with paper. See how it works! It’s so fun.

Isn’t that cool? I loved paper scrapbooking for years, but for the last 20 or so I have LOVED that all I need is a laptop instead of a lot of space (and storage space for supplies, too).

You can see how I layered various pages and elements here:

A Digital Art Collection I’m Loving Today

I have so much digital art I love, and I’m always finding something new with the gorgeous new kits added all the time to the Digital Art Library, but a digital art collection I’m loving today is Beach Story Page Kit.

I’m such a beach girl!! I think the papers and embellishments here are so fun. I have used this for several beach trip pages, and I just love it.

Thanks for stopping by Scrapbook Scoop, ep. 2! I hope you’ll take away some inspiration and ideas, and I hope you’ll share them, too–the image at the top of this post is Pinnable! 🙂 Happy memory-making!
